Process Preaching was developed by Pastor Jerry Larson who continues to teach his Process Preaching seminar at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Pastor Larson recently published a book describing the Process Preaching system called, “Speaking the Word Freely.”
Process Preaching is a system for delivering sermons freely without reading or reciting a fixed text. The system emphasizes the importance of first creating the sermon by writing a purpose statement and a full manuscript. Preachers are then taught to speak freely what they have written through a specific kind of oral rehearsal. Process Preaching provides a simple system for converting the thoughts and ideas of a written text into a dynamic oral presentation.
